Why Onze

Livraria Onze was born from a simple but constant experience.

For many years, I began to notice the number eleven appearing in seemingly ordinary moments of the day. I would look at the clock and there it was: 11:11, 1:11, 11:11 again. At first I thought it was mere coincidence. Over time the repetition became so frequent that I started to wonder whether there was something more behind that sequence insisting on catching my attention.

​

There are many ways to interpret this phenomenon. Some people link it to synchronicity, the idea that certain coincidences seem to carry meaning for those who experience them. Others see in these moments a form of spiritual guidance or an invitation to reflect. There are also explanations tied to the human mind itself, which tends to notice more easily what it considers important.

​

I never felt the need to choose a single answer. What matters to me is not explaining the phenomenon, but recognizing what it awakens: curiosity, reflection and openness to see beyond the obvious.

​

That experience is where the name Onze came from.

​

More than a bookstore, Onze is a space dedicated to seeking knowledge about themes that have accompanied humanity for centuries: spirituality, mediumship, Umbanda, phenomena still not understood by science, mysteries of the universe and the many questions that arise when we look beyond material reality.

​

Here you will find books written with the commitment to inform, clarify and encourage reflection. I believe spiritual subjects and unusual phenomena can be studied seriously, with respect and critical thinking, without sensationalism, prejudice or caricature.
